Asssessment book-Vocabulary /Temperature taking

Hi.

Just told the pupils yesterday that they are to complete the vocabulary component of the assessment book they bought from the school by term 3 week 5. I will go through the section in general, concentrating on the units related to Instep textbook 2B. They can check their answers with the answer key, once they have completed their work.

Today I have just rotated the seating arrangement of the pupils. I have placed those pupils who have eyesight problem (with letter from doctor) to sit in front.
The group leaders are as follows: Nursyahirah, Jeanette, Maximillian, Rui Shan and Shaiful.

Temperature taking will be held on 10 July, checking of thermometer will be done on 8 July. Please ensure that your child's thermometer is working. The General Office is selling them at $2.50 each.

Welcome back to school!

Hi to all parents and pupils!

Welcome back!
Firstly, to update the parents... The nurses are back for the next 2 weeks to provide routine medical checkup for all the pupils.

2.7 pupils are scheduled to see the nurses tomorrow.

Spelling 7.1 will start tomorrow. I went through the list today.

I intend to give the pupils 2 pages of work from the assessment book daily. The next day, I will go through the answers with them in general. I have asked them to complete Pg 121 and 122.

Today, I went through mental calculation(addition). I asked the pupils to complete Practice 1 of the Maths activity book 2B part 1. I went through the practice with the class first.

Will try to give daily updates, regarding admin stuff, test details as well as homework details.

By the way, there is an interesting website to improve one's vocabulary as well as to stop world hunger. I think it is more suitable for the older pupils and adults. Anyway, your kids can give it a try.

Have a good night! Take care...

Reminder to complete "Reading Treasury"

Hi all,

The June holidays has started and soon it is going to end. Please be reminded to complete the book reviews found in the "Reading Treasury". Parents are to sign on each book review.

Pupils are reminded to revise the multiplication table, as well as the topics covered for the first half of this year.

For those pupils who have not brought 2B of the English and Maths text and workbook, do remember to pack it into your school bag.

I am not introducing any more website at this moment, because I feel that numerous websites I have recommended to the pupils for the first half of this year are quite adequate for their level.

Important things to note...

Hi.

The pupils have been receiving many circulars, forms and letters from the school.
Please check to ensure that your child received the following:

1. P1 Registration form (Should be handed up to me by now.If not done so, please hand in next Tuesday, 20th May.)
2. Travel Declaration form (Should be handed up to me now. If not done so, please hand in next Tuesday, 20th May.)
3. Instruction on how to access the Gongshang Website for e-learning day on 21st May
(Pupils need to tell me whether they can access the website using their Birth Cert number on Tuesday 20th May. Remember to use CapLock for the alphabet.)
4. 2008 Excel fest brochure and letter (For your own reference.)
5. Celebrate Learning Letter & Bonding Day form
(Parent Support members will be going round to the classes next Tuesday 20th May to collect payment for the afternoon activities on Friday 23rd May. Pupils can also purchase coupons from 3-4pm at the canteen on the same day. Coupons will also be sold on Friday itself.)

As for the Meet-The-Parent Conference on 21st May, I would really appreciate if those of you scheduled to meet me that day, could meet me earlier on Tuesday before or after school or communicate to me through the phone; if you have many queries. If you still need to meet up with me, then we will meet at the scheduled time stated. However, I can only limit the time for each parent to 15 minutes.

As for those parents who are not meeting on 21st May, I will be giving you an email or phone call during the June holidays.

You can email me at heng_mui_gek_anne@moe.edu.sg or hengmg2004@yahoo.com.sg. Please identify yourself in the message.

It's been a long while...

Hi to all parents,

It has been quite a while since I have updated this blog. My maid completed her 2 year contract last November. Eversince then, I have been juggling work, home and kids. It does not help that my elder girl is in P1 this year.

Now, things have sort of settled down. And the routine has set in. On top of that the SA1 exam is over. Manage to squeeze some time to start the"engine" of my blog. Hopefully, I am able to maintain regular blog entries from now on.

To start with, I have just returned the reply slip to your child yesterday. Hopefully they have passed it to you. If you have other kids in the school, you would have noticed that the time range given (8am to 2pm) is different from the time stated in your other kids' form(3pm-9pm).

As I have mentioned to your kids, 8 teachers (including myself) will be accompanying about 80 pupils to Melbourne for an educational trip from 21st May to 28th May. The flight is scheduled around 9pm on 21st May therefore the timing stated.

There will be a relief teacher to cover my duties from 22nd to 23rd May, so lessons will carry on as per normal.

Till the next update, do take care...

( Will be returning the SA 1 exam script on Monday, do go through and sign on it.)

Recent updates... ...20 Feb 08

An update on what is happening these two weeks :

- There was Maths Test 1 on Monday 18 Feb 08. I will be returning them the test paper by this week. They are to do their corrections. Please sign and return to them for filing.

-There will be English Test 1 this coming Friday 22 Feb 08, based on Unit 1 and 2. Concentrate on the vocabulary words in the text book and the grammar items: conjunction and countable and uncountable nouns.

-The next spelling is S3.2 and D3.2, held next Tuesday 26 Feb 08. The pupils will have to memorise the dictation passage next term. I will read the passage to them this term. Please ensure that corrections are done and you sign on the content page.

-Sport day finals will be held on 27 Feb 08 Wednesday. There will be no school for both sessions.

-I have asked the pupils to give me a new exercise book, labelled "English/Maths". This book is used for free writing, any notes for the kids, surprise quiz, newspaper articles, etc. The 1st assignment I asked them to do was free writing - My Favourite Person /Animal.
I will only comment, I will not be marking for grammar mistakes. They can draw and colour based on what they write.

As and when there are any other urgent matters, I will provide updates...
