P2 Learn-to-swim programme / A NIL return for future reply slips & consent forms

Hi,

I gave the pupils the consent forms yesterday, regarding the P2 swimming programme. I understand from a show of hands, that quite a number of the pupils in 2.7 know how to swim. Therefore there are only a handful who signed up for it. This programme is a chance for the pupils to interact with their classmates outside a classroom setting. So the pupils will be divided into different group, according to their proficiency level. So if your child can swim and would like to progress further, he or she can still sign up.

The teacher in charge, Mr Azman asked for any questions regarding this programme to be directed to him.

For those parents who have returned to consent form, thank you.

For future reply slips and consent forms of any kind, a NIL return is required(if you are not interested to sign up for your child)

Thank you very much.

Have a good evening.

Yearbook for 2007

Hi all.

The yearbook for 2007 is out. It is not compulsory for all pupils to buy a copy of it. However, if the pupils would like to have a copy, it costs $2/-. As the yearbook has been heavily subidised by the school, those pupils under the Financial Assistance Scheme(FAS) who would like to buy, would have to pay for it.

I will start collecting the money from the pupils from tomorrow onwards till Friday18 January. Once I have collected from every child, I will pass the money collected to the general office. The yearbooks should be given to them by next week.

P2 Meet-the-parent session

Hi,

I gave out the the letter and reply slip for the P2 Meet-the-parent session yesterday. Some of the kids have handed the reply slips to me. For those kids who have not done so, please remind them to submit by tomorrow, 16 Jan 2008. If you are not coming for the session, please submit a nil reply too. You can write down any questions you may have. Thanks a lot!

Please take note that this session is not meant for meeting individual teachers, it is meant for the school leaders to communicate or clarify P2 matters as a whole. If you do need to meet up with me, you can email me your queries.

Lessons on 11 Jan 2008 (Friday)

Hi,

School will start at 10am tomorrow and end at 12 noon. The pupils need to be in the school foyer by 9.30am.

They need to bring their mother tongue books (Chinese/Malay), story book and pencilcase in a small bag. During my lessons, I will be giving out worksheet as classwork. So there is no need to bring any books for my lessons. There will not be any reccess so your child is encouraged to have a full breakfast before coming to school.

Do spend the weekend going through the first spelling and dictation (S1.1 and D1.1)
The words the dictation passage are longer. I told the pupils that I will slowly expect them to recall their dictation from memory after D1.2. Anyway, I will adjust accordingly and inform you.

Till the next update... take care.

Beginning of Term 1 Week 2...

Hi.

Lessons starts as of today. There will definitely be classwork, but I will go slow on homework.

I found a website that is good to teach your child numbers in general, especially place values. It is related to unit 1 - Numbers up to 1000. There are many other types of digital manipulatives that can be used throughout their schooling years. It serves as a good introduction as it shows the concept pictorially.

A gentle reminder to all pupils ... remember to write the current date and day on every piece of classwork and homework neatly.

Will continue to update the blog.

Have a good evening.

1st day of school

Hi.

The pupils seemed well-adjusted on their 1st day of school yesterday. Their classroom is now located on the 2nd level, next to the Oasis(Techers' pantry).
For the 1st week(2Jan to 4 Jan), the timetable will be suspended. The time will be used for admin matter, goal setting and decorating the classroom.
The normal timetable will resume next week, I have already given them the timetable yesterday.
I have given the pupils a student detail form. Please check the details, make amendment(if any) and both parents are to sign in red ink.

I have told the pupils to bring their art materials. The list has been written in the learning journey 2008, which was given to them yesterday.

I have also given a them a letter from the school stating the change of dismissal time every Friday. The dismissal time is 6pm instead of 530pm.

Will keep updating . Thanks for yur cooperation.
