Hi all.
So sorry I have not written any blog entries. My kids were not well and was busy.
So how's your holiday with your kid(s)? Before I go on, I would like to wish everyone a belated x'mas and a happy new year in 2008!
The 1st week of term 1 we would normally be handling housekeeping matters, administrative matters and target setting for the kids. In the meantime, I would also be collecting the following books and files during 1st week of school, to be kept in class so that their school bags would be lightened :
* In step activity book 2A
*Maths workbook 2A Part 1
* Spelling exercise book
*Social Studies file(Green)
*Social Studies Activity Book 1
*English file & fastener (Red)
*Maths file & fastener (Blue)
As and when there are important matters that require your assistance, I will keep all of you informed.
Remind your child to bring a notebook to take note of important information.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the school holidays.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !

This December holidays in a good time to revise through P1 work, especially the weaker topics. I will not be giving homework, as I believe it is a time of rest for them. I will just give them a list of words and phrases to use in composition writing by the end of this week. This will be useful for those of you who want to prepare your child for P2 during the holidays. I will be referring to this list in P2 in 2008. I will also add on more words and phrases relevant to their level next year.
By the way, I have just returned their result slips and portfolio to your children today. Please sign on the slip and return for checking on Thursday.
As you know, the whole P1 level will be putting up a drama performance after the prize presentation. Do keep a lookout for your child on stage.
All pupils from P1.7 will be be promoted to P2.7 next year. I will continue to be their form teacher.
I would like to take this chance to thank all parents for giving me support throughout this year. I hope we can continue to work together for the benefit for your child.
Good night!
(P.S. Do keep posted to this blog. If I come across any interesting materials relevant to education during the holidays, I will include in my blog.)

For Drama Performance next week / Entrepreneurial Bazaar on 6 Nov
Hello.
The pupils created a mask each for their drama performance next week. They coloured and added glitter glue to it. About 20 of them have completed the decoration of their masks. The others brought home to complete it. I have the completed masks on the table behind the teacher's console table. Pupils can still improve on the decoration. Coloured papers, crayons and glitter glue can be found on the same table.
As for the used white t-shirts, they are no longer needed. The school will be getting the costumes needed.
As for the bazaar tomorrow, I noticed that some of the pupils have purchased more than 1 set of coupon. Please be reminded that no cash will be refunded if the coupons are not used up, as the procceeds from the sales of the coupons goes to saving the white tigers at the Singapore Zoo.
It has also been brought to my attention that some of the boys want to bring their trading cards to school as they said that some of the stall holders at the bazaar says trading is allowed.
Please note that they are not allowed to bring cards of any kinds, playing or trading.
Have a pleasant evening!

Post-exam activities
The exams are over! The pupils are not required to bring their books to school anymore for this year (for English and Maths, not sure about the other subjects). Just bring writing and colouring materials.
For the past week, the pupils were involving in some colouring activities in class. I conducted a class colouring competition last Friday. Most of them coloured extremely well. Hopefully, I can take some photographs and upload them for all to see during the school holidays.
For the following weeks, the pupils will be involved in making the props for the end of the year drama performance. As you all may know, the pupils were given a drama lesson a week.
On Monday, the pupils will be asked to make a mask. They are to bring colouring materials, coloured paper, any materials that can be pasted or added to the mask to make it look colourful and 3-dimensional. They should bring scissors, glue, etc too.
I will provide the basic mask template and cardboard.
The pupils are also asked to bring a used white t-shirt. We welcome adult-size or kid-size. If there are printed words or pictures, it is acceptable, as long as it is white. The pupils will be adding colours and patterns to the used t-shirts. As there are a few days of school holidays(7 Nov-School Admin Day, 8 Nov-Deepavali), they can continue the project at home. The t-shirt they create will be worn by themselves. It does not matter if the t-shirt is too big for your child. The costume is meant for the drama performance and the t-shirt being oversized will add theatric effect to the performance.
The purpose of making the mask and decorating the t-shirt themselves is to give the children a sense of ownership pride when they see the finished product and see themselves wearing it. The concept of recycling is introduced through the decorating of the old t-shirt .
I will give more instructions and details tomorrow.
Thanks for your time and have a nice evening!

September Holidays
Hello.
The holidays have started... hopefully the kids are enjoying themselves.
I have given them only 1 set of maths worksheets on division as homework.
Please ensure that English and Maths files are properly filed and signed and returned on the 1st day of school next Monday, 10 Sep 2007.
Another important thing to note: Spelling for term 4 will be conducted every Tuesday instead of on Friday and Monday previously. The reason for the change is because of the number of school holidays on Monday and Friday next term.
Get the kids to revise their work in preparation for SA2. Rest well and play well.
Happy holidays!

Photographs taken during our visit to the Singapore Zoo
Hi all,
Managed to upload the photographs I took today. My photography skills are not that great. If there are any professional photographers amongst you parents, do share some pointers with me, so that I can upgrade my picture taking skills.
The link below should direct you to the photographs. Do let me know if they don't..

By end of term 3...(Part 1)
Good morning to all...
There will be an English practice paper given out next Thursday, 30 Aug 2007. This will be conducted in class, in the form of a test. As we don't have CAs in Gongshang, this is a good chance for them to prepare for SA2 as it will be conducted in an exam setting. Some of the pupils may have forgotten the dos and don't of an exam, so it is a good time to refresh their memory. Items covered will be from unit 1 to unit 12. Any changes I will inform again,
Once I receive the Maths practice paper, I will let you know when the maths practice paper will be conducted on and other details.
Few points to take note :
1. Pupils are to wear their house t-shirt tomorrow for the excursion to the zoo, as it is Thursday. Remember not to bring valuable items and money, just snacks and drinks. All valuable items bought is at their own risk.
2. For pupils who have only a few more pages left in their spelling book, please buy a new exercise book, and continue from it.
I would like parents to take note that spelling and dictation corrections are to be done thrice. For example, the phrase "colourful butterfiles" is spelt wrongly, the child has to write "colourful butterflies" three times neatly in blue colour pencil neatly.
Will continue to update all of you..

PSLE Oral on 16 Aug and 17 Aug 2007
Please take note that there will be no school on 16 and 17 Aug 2007 as PSLE Oral will be conducted on both days. I have just passed your child a letter from the school informing you about this. I have to apologise for not giving it sooner as I was on childcare leave yesterday.

As it is going to be a long break, I have given the children homework, English worksheet -Unit 11 worksheet. Please ensure that they read the instructions before completing the different sections. * Return Acknowledgement form regarding school holidays due to PSLE Oral on 20 August.

Thanks for your responses!
Good morning !
I did not know the power of blogging until I received comments from a few parents. Thanks for your support and help. I did not even know there is such a thing known as feed burner. In fact, there are quite a few terms related to blogging that sound greek to me!
I have already linked my blog to a feedburner already. So now everyone can access my blog more easily and give me your comments. Especially to the more IT-savy parents, your valued feedback on how to improve this blog would be good.
Thanks again and have a great weekend ahead!
